The DLiDriver 1000 is an efficient, fast switching, regulated current source for use with LED-based illuminators on Texas Instruments DLP® projection systems. The output current and pulse mode timing is directly controlled by external logic-level control signals, and the board interfaces seamlessly with the LED controls on DLP LightCrafter™ 6500/9000 development kits. Using this driver product, it’s possible for an application to achieve up to 1000 frames per second.
The DLiDriver 1000 accompanies Texas Instruments’ release of the latest revision of the DLP LightCrafter™ 6500/9000 firmware and software bundle. To realize maximum supported pattern rates on the DLP LightCrafter™ 6500/9000, a driver capable of switching the LED current at high speed is required. The DLiDriver 1000, offered with either 6A or 20A maximum current, is capable of switching between off-state and full-scale output in just a few microseconds, and is rated to drive the LED continuously in cases where strobe control is not required.
The DLiDriver 1000 provides stable and reliable LED operation on DLP LightCrafter™ 6500/9000 evaluation modules (EVMs), DLP projectors, and many other LED applications. Its high performance and ease of integration make the DLiDriver 1000 an ideal choice for a range of development activities. The capability of the DLiDriver 1000 was recognized by Texas Instruments, where it was used for qualification testing on the DLP LightCrafter™ firmware and software bundle.
This product is compatible with a wide range of high power LEDs from Luminus, Osram, and other suppliers. The 6A version of the DLiDriver 1000 operates from a 12V DC power supply, with a 24V supply option available for the 20A version. Auxiliary connectors for external fans and for LED current measurement are also provided. To make it even more convenient, users are able to directly connect the LED to the board instead of mounting the board remotely or writing custom software.
